He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Else Paetkau; his children, Alfred, Amanda Paetkau, Arwit, Tammy Paetkau, Monica and Don Hamilton; his grandchildren, Tanya Ramsey, Laura Hamilton, Lisa Hamilton, Connar Comstock, Ceilidh Comstock, Sydney Paetkau and Jake Paetkau; and his great grandchildren, Hudson, MacKenzie, James, Evelyn, Layla and Brenna.
