He was predeceased by: his wife Teresa Whaley; his parents, John Whaley (Jack) and Cecilia Whaley; and his siblings, Jay Whaley and Marianne Ackland.

He is survived by: his children, Amanda, Benjamin (Sarah) and Colin Dear (Bella Phan); and his grandchildren, Indigo, Jack, Ava Will and Mark Whaley (family: Kasey Locke, Patricia Crosby, Janice Buttee, Kristin Butts, Lorraine Whaley, Helen Szymkiw). He is also survived by family, Kasey Locke and family, Patricia Crosby and family, Janice Buttee and family, Kristin Butts and family, Lorraine Whaley and family.
