He was predeceased by: his wife Mary; and his sister Jean Helm. He is survived by: his children, Linda Allan (Dave Partridge), Brenda Hignell (Phil), Bob Grassing (Kim Jefferson) and Brad Grassing (Christine); his grandchildren, Rob (Jana), Randy (Kim), Nick (Maddie), Rebecca, Mitchell (Autumn) and Sydney (Quinn); and his great grandchildren, Ainsley, Emily, Rachel, Robbie and Abby.
