He was predeceased by: his parents, Maurice and Julia Demaiter (Decuypere); his grandson Peter; his great grandchild Ryan; and his in-laws, Celest Spriet, Roger Spriet, Lizette, Peter Lierman, Simonne, Richard VanDeWiele, John DeCloet, John Spriet, Julien VanOoteghem, Donald Loncke and Daniel Maertens.
He is survived by: his son Maurice (Lorie); his grandchildren, Sarah (Geoff), Erin (Jeremy), Jennifer, Kortney (Teddy) and Riley; his daughter Delores (Jerry Tack); his grandchildren, Quintin and Claire; his son David (Janet); his grandchildren, Kristen (Lee), Michelle, David and Allison (Chris); his son Leon (Heather); his grandchildren, Michael (Jennifer), Gerard (Sarah), William (Sam), Stephen (Madison) and Ann (Adam); his daughter Linda (Tom Schafer); his granddaughter Janelle (Cameron); his son Joseph (Lori); his grandchildren, Austin (Sarah), Alicia (Jonathan) and Matthew; his daughter Elaine (Paul Boyd); his grandchildren, James (Kaitlyn), Brian, Emily, Laura, Kevin and Scott; his daughter Donna (Jamie Smithers); his grandchildren, Luke and Rosa; his great grandchildren, Ethan, Jared, Olivia, Lauren, Beau, Shawn, Andrew, Grace, Benjamin, Laura, Julian, Amelia, Evelyn, Audrey, Bryson, Christian, Aiden, Avery, Nathan, Jacob, Clara, Carson, Bennett, Foster, Maryn, Georgia, Loraine, Rose, James, Eve and Mary; his sisters, Mary VanOoteghem, Freda Loncke and Gerarda Maertens; and his in-laws, Andrew Spriet (Helen), Mary DeCloet, Rosalie Spriet, Doris Spriet and Veronica VanDeWiele. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A prayer was held on Tuesday, August 25th 2026 at 4:00 PM at the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes- Burial And (40 Queen St, Langton, ON N0E1G0). Visitation was held on Tuesday, August 25th 2026 from 4:15 PM to 7:15 PM and on Wednesday, August 26th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the same location. A funeral Mass was held on Wednesday, August 26th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Sacred Heart R. C. Church (24 Albert St, Langton, ON N0E1G0). A burial was held on Wednesday, August 26th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the Sacred Heart R. C. Cemetery (24 Albert St, Langton, ON N0E1G0).
