He was predeceased by: his brothers, Rene and Paul Melanson. He is survived by: his wife Anne Melanson of Lindsay; his children, Christine Melanson of Lindsay and Brian Melanson of Scarborough; his brother-in-law Lawrence Goldie; and his siblings, Leo MacKinnon and Jeannette Melanson of New Brunswick.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Edgar may be made to the Humane Society of Kawartha Lakes and can be arranged by Lakeland Funeral & Cremation Centre.
