He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Debbie (Thorne); his children, Justin, Sylvie Johnston and Emily Johnston Hartin (late Wade); his parents, Jean Johnston and Gordon Sr.; his sister Bonnie Maunder (Stephen); and his brother-in-law Jeff Thorne (Dori). He was also cherished by his nieces and nephews.
