He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold James and Florence James; and his sister Marlene James. He is survived by: his wife Jean; his children, Vanessa Power (Brad), Candace Houghton (Stephen) and Hilary Jamieson (Aiden); his grandchildren, Astrid, Saria, Nellie and Stirling; and his siblings, Phil James (Helen), Gord James and Valerie James (Ed Call). He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews.
