He was predeceased by: his wife Sandra; his parents, May Magee and Joseph Whitney; and his siblings, Gary Whitney, Lynda Hum (Terry) and David Magee (Lori).

He is survived by: his daughters, Melinda Whitney and Teresa James; his grandchildren, Natasha Johnston (Bill), Alyssa Haddlesey (Jeremy Windrem), Jesse James (Danielle Bertrand), Adley and Rowan Johnston; his sister-in-law Dorothy Whitney; and his son-in-law Dan Haddlesey. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family, chosen family, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation can be made to the Omemee Legion, which would be appreciated by the family.
