Walter Polomski Obituary

POLOMSKI, Walter (Wally) August 2, 2022, in his 90th year. He passed peacefully with his son Michael at his side.
Born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, Wally obtained his Pilot’s License during his years at high school, then worked at the Avro Aviation Company testing the gas turbine engines for their infamous jet. When Avro ceased operating in 1963, he and his brother Ted moved up to and bought the Shallamar on Mitchell Lake and became proprietors to a successful business where he made many long-time friends in the Kirkfield area. He retired to Balsam Lake and spent many years there enjoying it with his family and friends. This lake had been a major feature in the lives of the Polomski family, which started with commercial fishing with his father and brother in the early 1940’s. He also enjoyed travelling, dancing and cards, all with Maxine at his side.
Predeceased by his sister Helen (Ufnal) and brother Ted, Wally is survived by his loving wife Maxine (Day), children Michael, Carol (Flowers) and Janet (McKinnon). Grandchildren Rachael, Hannah, Matthew, Terek, Dylan and Georgia. Nieces Tosia, Cindy, Barbara and Francis.
He will be missed by many other family members and friends.
Cremation and a private family gathering were Wally’s wishes, and they have since taken place.
