She was predeceased by: her parents, Wilhem Mewes and Margarete Mewes; her husband Adolf Schmidtmeyer; and her siblings, Hans, Olla and Mia.
She is survived by: her children, Andy (Donna), Michael (Karin) and Sharon Noecker (Warren); her grandchildren, Lyric (Vu), Aaron (Kim), Tyson, Jacob, Nicholas (Cheyenne), Camren, Sophia and Wren; her sister Petra Riepenhausen (Peter); and her sister-in-law Marianne Etgeton.
