He was predeceased by: his wife Mary Bannister (Jones); his brother Gordon McKellar; his sister-in-law Audrey Bannister; his sister Beth Clarke; and his siblings-in-law, Wayne, Polly Gilbert and Pat McKellar.

He is survived by: his children, Sandra, Brad Wilson of Caroline, Alberta, Lori and Doug Francis of Ilderton; and his siblings, Bill, Marilyn Bannister, Marion, Joe Duncan, Barney Clarke, Mark, Coleen and Chris Jones.
