She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Dorothy Mitchell and Larry Mitchell of London; her brothers, Ron Mitchell (Connie), Mike Mitchell (Carolynn) and Bob Mitchell; her children, Pat Shackleton (Willard), Carol Mills (Jerry), David Mitchell (Debbie), Karen Mitchell and Dorothy Babbage; and her great grandchildren, Alicia Babbage, Brandon Babbage (Brittney), Ryan Babbage (Trenna), Tonya Quann, Jackie Quann, Jody Thompson (Jim), Laurie Dolmage (Larry), Mike Mills (Belinda), Dwayne Shackleton, Donna Shackleton, Heather Powers (Terry) and Robert Allison.

Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing Alverna knew her love extended way beyond her family through her years of charitable donations to the Ronald McDonald House, the Men's Mission, Youth for Christ, the Salvation Army and the MS Society.
