She was predeceased by : her daughter Debbie Dukeshire; her grandson Jason Ayling; and her husband Malcolm Garfield. She is survived by : her children, Donnafaye Milton, Cathy Hooper and Janet Blackmon; her grandchildren, Jay, Jennifer, Monica Milton, Andrew Hooper, Stephanie Ayling Catchpole and Amanda Blackmon; her great grandchildren, Vera, Emily Milton Dubois, Katelynn, Maddi, Bree, Braeden, Teddy Catchpole, Jaxon and Paige Northey; and her sister Deb.

“I am a part of Gena's family. And I was heartbroken when I found out that she was dead. She was a very nice person and I will never forget her. I am one of her great-grandchildren, i am 11 years old and this is the first time that I have really felt the sadness and hurt when i have lost a loved one. When I first met her, She played Twinkle Twinkle Little Star on the piano. So basically that song will be a memory. She was suffering for 2 weeks. But luckily God took her and he is going to heal her”
