He was predeceased by: his grandson Jonathon Stewart; his sister Freda Brubacher; and his siblings-in-law, Ralph of Elmira, Duncan Black and Jane of Florida.

He is survived by: his wife Ruth Rushton (Black); his children, Susan Schoen (Bob) of Grayslake, Illinois and Cindy Stewart (Paul) of London; his grandchildren, Matt Schoen, Maura Schoen, Charlie, Melissa Schoen, Kelly, Tommy Doyle and Jack Schoen; and his great grandchild Charlotte Ruth Schoen.

Donations to Wesley-Knox United Church Memorial Fund, 91 Askin Street London, ON N6C 1E7 would be greatly appreciated.

“From betty alexander to ruth, susan, cindy and family i have know john and ruth since the early 1950s when i was 12 years old living on highview avenue. I moved to edmonton alberta in 1981 almost 40 years ago. We continued our friendship with visits, cards and memories of living on highview and being neighbours. I will miss those talks with john very much. Hope to visit with you ruth in the near future. Our sincere sympathy betty, steven, kevin and mark alexander”
