He was predeceased by: his daughter Cathy Ahlers Madden (Patrick); his parents, Bernard Ahlers and Jantina Ahlers (Beukeveld); his wife Anne (Melenhorst); his siblings, Helen Kamphuis (Herman), Tiny Ahlers, Bernard (Grady) and Otto; his brother-in-law Kees Smit; Lynn (Johnston).
He is survived by: his son John Michael (late Lynn); his grandchildren, Ryan Ahlers, Amanda, Patricia, Andrew Madden and Bennett Madden; his sister Annie Smit; his sister-in-law Margaret Ahlers; and his brother Gerry (Anouk) Melenhorst (Trees). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Sunday, January 11th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and on Monday, January 12th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral Mass was held on Monday, January 12th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the St. George Church (1164 Commissioners Rd W, London, ON N6K1C7). A burial was held on Monday, January 12th 2026 from 12:20 PM to 12:50 PM at the St. Peter's Cemetery (806 Victoria St, London, ON N5Y4E1).
