He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Mary; his parents, Leo Doherty and Kathleen Doherty; his children, Brian, Paul (Cindy) and Susan; his granddaughters, Tiffany, Heather and Anne Marie; and his siblings, Maureen (John), Pat and Jack.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a celebration of Joseph's life will be held at a later date.
