He is survived by: his child Kennedie; his parents, Fred Vella and Sandra Vella; his brother Joe Vella (Susan); his great-nieces and great-nephews, Parker, Quinn Wood and Mackenzie Vella; and also Ashleigh Wood (Rob). He is also survived by his many uncles, aunts, cousins and extended family.

Mario organized and ran his own golf tournament, Mario Vella's Victory Against ALS, for 21 years until Covid cancelled it in 2020 as well as his dinner/dance at the Maltese Hall and Marconi Club.
