He was predeceased by: his wife Dorothy. He is survived by: his children, Robert K. Cottingham (Nancy), Karen Osoka (Gary Boyle), Joan Metcalf (Glenn) and Debra Cottingham; and his brothers, Don Cottingham (Earla) and Ron Cottingham (Ruth). He is also survived by seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
