She was predeceased by: her husband Gerald Beattie; her parents, Leo Johnston and Helen Johnston; and her siblings, Helen Mercer (Cliff), Marie Stevenson (Bill) and Harold Johnston (Leona).

She is survived by: her children, Doug (Judy Beattie), Marilyn (Rick Eyre) and Karen (Glenn Webster); her grandchildren, Jeff Beattie (Sue) of Belmont, Brad Beattie (Julie) of Tavistock, Marc Webster (Jessalynn) of London and Becky Webster (Craig Pike) of London; her great grandchildren, Cassie, Josh, Brooklyn, Kenzie, Austin, Carter, Kyla and Everly; and her brother-in-law Elgin Vessie.

As per Ruth's wishes, there will be no funeral with the COVID19 restrictions currently in place.
