He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Susan; his children, Tiana Baker (Graeme), Krista Van Aarsen and Alicia (Bryan); his stepchildren, Jennifer Beatty and Steven Beatty (Michelle); his grandchildren, Ana Branco, Olivia, Violet Baker, Addison Sodawater, Ryker Beatty-Wolters, Natalie and Evan Beatty; his mother Wilhelmina Sterling (Charles); his siblings, Mike Van Aarsen (Cathy), Mary Ann Wragg (Bill) and Tom Van Aarsen (Lori); and his siblings-in-law, Bonnie Boland (Jim), Don Waldie, John Little (Fatima), Debbie Pfeiffer (Dave) and Scott Little. He was also cherished by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, colleagues and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the London Regional Cancer Program or the Huntington Society of Canada, two charities that were important to John.
