He was predeceased by: his brother Larry "Butch" Kaake (Brenda); and his parents, Calvin Kaake and Bessie Kaake (Cottrill). He is survived by: his wife Mary Lou Kaake (Doan); his children, Jeff Kaake (Sue) and Leslee Warren; his grandchildren, Cassandra and Ryan Warren; his stepgrandson Dane Vandermolen (Jennifer); his great grandchild Ericson; his stepgreat-grandchildren, Madison and Jillian; and his sibling Marguerita Staples (late Warren).
