He was predeceased by: his parents, Mable Howson and Robert Howson; his sister Mildred; his brother-in-law Dean Allan; his niece Susan "Sue" Cornies; and his siblings-in-law, Yvonne and James "Steve" Davis.

He is survived by: his wife Bette Howson; his son James "Jim" Howson (Sheryl); his son-in-law Kevin Cornies; his grandchildren, Meaghan, Cameron Howson, Mackenzie (Remy) and Matthew Robinson; his children-in-law, Shannon Honsberger and Tom Robinson; his nieces and nephews, Grant Allan (Joanne), Barry Allan (Jill Black), Chaka Blackman, Steven Davis, Jennifer and Denise Davis; and his sisters-in-law, Judith Davis, Jacqueline Davis and Jean Davis.
