He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Brenda Steiginga; his children, Robert Steiginga (Susan), Nancy Bouterse (Jack), Margaret Nyboer (Andrew), Gerald Steiginga (Nicole) and David Steiginga (Christine); and his siblings, Freek Steiginga (Klaaske), Fred Steiginga (late Gay), Gerrit Steiginga (Klaaske), Pete Steiginga (Willy), Maatje Tuiniga (late Sytse) and John Steiginga (Lucy).
