David Christopherson lit a candle

“Such sad news. Daryl and I were both in the Parl. class of ‘04 and cut our Federal teeth on the Public Accounts Committee (PAC). Our friendship defied political gravity. A rural, fmr OPP officer Conservative buddying up with an urban, fmr labour leader NDPer! Since public tax $’s has no political party - neither does PAC. The Daryl I knew in PAC & outside the House, had no party. He was an honest, intelligent, funny and compassionate person who became a leader on PAC - and my friend. RIP, Bro.”

Terence H Young wrote a sympathy message

“In loving memory of Daryl Edward Kramp, Daryl was a great friend and advocate for anyone in need...a leader who would protect others without hesitation. When Parliament came under attack by a terrorist, and 200 MPS and Senators waited in the gov't caucus room behind unlocked doors, I will never forget Daryl at the front, his booming voice saying "Ladies and gentlemen: I want two men on each door. If the shooter comes in, prepare to take one for the team." He would have done so himself.”

Someone wrote a sympathy message

“I had the honour of working with Daryl on the Public Safety Committee when he was chair. A strong principled Conservative and so well respected. Always friendly and always supportive. And, I will never forget his big booming voice above all others, the day of the terror attack on the hill... instructing us what to do, while remaining very calm. To this day, I still talk about how amazing he was during all that chaos. My sincere sympathy and deepest condolences to his family.”

Many the chat we had in his office (sometimes with a drink) and he always had an open ear. The family can take great pride in Daryl's efforts to make Canada a better place. Rest in peace, my friend.
