Though Nelly may no longer walk beside us, her memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Nelly touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In her absence, her spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
She was predeceased by: her spouse Hendrick Streekstra (Henry); and her siblings, Ann DeJong and Tom DeGroot. She is survived by: her daughter Irene Streekstra-Haslam (Brian); her grandchildren, Adrian, Eric and Erin Haslam; and her brother John DeGroot. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Lanark Leeds Grenville or to the Canadian Cancer Society would be gratefully acknowledged.
