Giovanni Marinelli Obituary
In Loving Memory of Giovanni Marinelli It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Giovanni Marinelli on Wednesday, December 17th, 2025. Giovanni's journey through life was one full of hard work, resilience, and love for his family. He was born in Gualdo Tadino, Italy and later moved to Luxembourg as a young man to work with his brother, Marcello. When he was 22, he came to Canada in the spirit of adventure where he met and fell in love with Anna where they started their life together. Once he was in Canada he worked as a mechanic at Kinear auto mechanic shop in Richmond Hill, later moving to Scarborough Public Utilities where he worked for over 30 years starting in the garage and working his way up to become Head Foreman. He held that position until his retirement, all while making sure to spend time with family, maintain a huge garden with his loving wife Anna, work on projects improving the home and fixing cars for friends and family. Every few years he'd take the family to Italy to spend the summers together with his brothers and sisters and their children in his hometown, the mountains and always a few weeks at the sea. This wonderful tradition created many incredible memories and a deep connection with the family in Gualdo Tadino. Giovanni had the mind of an engineer and had a talent for fixing anything mechanical. He built many different things like his hydraulic wood chopper, a new car for Anna built from two other cars, a classic custom Ford van and many other useful tools to make life easier. He loved to talk and debate with people, share good food and wine and always made time for his family and friends. Giovanni is survived by his wife, Anna, his two children Giuliana (Sean) and Carla (Nick) as well as his four grandchildren Chiara, Saoirse, Francesco and Michaela and many close and dear nieces and nephews in Italy. He will be missed by all who knew him and stay in our hearts forever.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to The Canadian Lung Association (https://www.lung.ca) in memory of Giovanni. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for the love, support, and condolences received during this difficult time.
