He was predeceased by : his son Richard; his parents, Earl Bender and Mable Renwick; and his brothers, Irwin (late Alice), Clinton (Therese) and Glen (Marilyn).

He is survived by : his wife Sharon Bender; his children, Judy Howes and James (Debbie); his grandchildren, Megan Jackson (Jerrit), Connor MacLeod (Olivia), Makayla MacLeod (Darron), Cayleb, Alyssa, Taylor and Jacob; his great grandchildren, Emma, Noah, Elaina and Grant; and his siblings, Lorne (Caroline), Keith (Charlotte), Carmen (Lise) and Merle Marjerrison (John Howard).
