He was loved and cherished by many people including: his children, Christopher Hellyer, Julia Hellyer-Herman (Jack Herman) and Jane Hellyer; and his sister Joan Hellyer-Marshall.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations are welcomed to the Alzheimer's & Dementia Society of Canada.

“I would love to contact Jim's daughters, Jane and Julie. Is that possible? My phone number is 416-481-2542 in Toronto, but from July 3 - 24 I will be at my rented cottage on Concession 13 - not far from Balm Beach. Phone there 416-931-1518. If the girls are at Jim's cottage, perhaps we could meet. I happened to be with Jim's high school girfriend this morning, and later we heard he had died. Very sad. We both have many very fond memories of him. Jane Robertson (also an old girlfriend -'70s)”
