Matthew LeClair Obituary

Passed away suddenly at the age of 43 at his home in Midland on March 14, 2026. Cherished son of Rosanne Patryluk (step-father David Camp) and Steven LeClair. Loving brother of Tyler LeClair and step-brothers Greg and Keith Camp and their families. Caring first cousin to Cara Lynn McAuley-McGillivray (Frank McGillivray) and Craig McAuley and his uncle Frank McAuley. Matthew is reunited with his grandparents William and Aniela Patryluk and Elmer and Orma LeClair and Aunt Diana Patryluk-McAuley.

Although Matthew had several friends, he deeply loved and cherished his very best feline friend, Gio for 17 years. Gio is heartbroken and is searching for his pal.

Life didn't come easy for Matthew. School was a challenge but finally graduated and received his high school diploma. At the age of 22 he was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and underwent both chemotherapy and radiation. After five years, he was declared in remission. Additionally, for years Matthew suffered with ADD, depression, pain and anxiety and at times resorted to self-medicating in lieu of unavailable and or lack of proper medical care. Prescribed medications opened the door for an ongoing addiction.

Matthew, at a young age, had an interest in skateboarding. At the age of 13 he opened and operated a skateboard shop known as The Underground Boardroom. He, along with his mother, initiated Project Skate and worked hard with skateboarders to raise funds to build a skatepark in Midland. Matthew also enjoyed snowboarding, basketball, and baseball. He had an interest in astronomy and astrology. He liked to draw, particularly graffiti art. He loved to shop and adorn himself with designer clothes, jewelry and sunglasses. He never met a pair of shoes or hat he didn't like. Matthew had an awesome sense of humor and very quick witted. He had a great interest in current and world affairs. He enjoyed debating politics. He had a very deep concern for the future of the human race.

Friends are invited to join the family at Nicholls Funeral Home in Midland on Thursday, March 26th, 2026, for a visitation from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Friday, March 27th, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. until the Chapel service starting at 1:00 p.m. A reception will follow at the Heritage House across the parking lot following the service. An interment will be held in the Spring at Lakeview Cemetery in Midland. Details will be forthcoming once a date is set.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Midland OSPCA in Matthew's memory would be greatly appreciated.
