“Maxine was devoid of negativity. Being with her was like feeling sunshine or seeing a flower fully in bloom. She was right there in front of you, each time you spoke to her. I knew her for decades, yet each time I met her felt new. I felt she saw me with gratitude. This was not a mark of my own achievements, but of her ability to be fully present to everyone. Our condolences to her dear Cliff—also a beacon in an otherwise dark world--and to her wonderful family. With love, Jen and Eve”

“I first met Maxine at Kenollie PS when our kids were young and she was volunteering (of course!) with reading skills. I then met her again at First United where she and Cliff were shining examples of actually doing good deeds rather than just talking about them. Later, I enjoyed weekly chats as a contributor to Caring & Sharing which they managed from their front porch - always generous and involved. I miss their smiles and waves from the kitchen window and feel blessed to have known them both.”
