“We were saddened by Derek's death which we just heard yesterday. For years we saw Derek every day, walking Zoe; when she passed, he still continued with his walks, speaking to neighbours up and down Ben Machree. We kept in touch before and after his heart surgery this year, via email, or visits to his apartment but it was early last week when he didn't reply to my latest email that we began to wonder if he was okay. He was always quick with a smile and will be missed. Rest in peace, Derek.”
