He was predeceased by: his wife Margaret Otten; his brother-in-law Martin Guichelaar; his parents, Chris Otten and Jacoba Otten; his siblings, Klaas Otten (Mina), Karen Vandersleen (Klaas) and Anna Dunlop (Chuck); and his siblings-in-law, John Meinen (Renee), Henk Meinen (Betty), Ann De Vries (Jake), Stoffer Meinen, Bill Meinen, Willie, Arie Van Eyk, Evert Benjamins and Arend Van Pelt.
He is survived by: his children, Jackie Smitjes (Ray), Angie Schmidt (Henry), Connie Neven (Steve), Martin Otten (Andrea), Aileen Pennings (Jarrett) and Sharon Koopman (Mark); his siblings, Frances Timmermans (Peter), Arend Otten (Cherie) and Anno Otten (Betty); and his sisters-in-law, Frances Van Eyk, Alice Van Pelt, Grace Benjamins and Darlene Meinen. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
