He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Schmidt and Clara Schmidt; and his siblings-in-law, Robert Lines and Dorothy Elg. He is survived by: his wife Ruth Schmidt; his children, Julie Schmidt (Steve Maddock), Jarvin Schmidt (MJ) and Shawn Schmidt (Dorine Cherry); his grandchildren, Derek Ward (Andrea), April Bannon (Derek) and Devon Ward (Sarah); his great grandchildren, Russell, Carter, Brayden, Evelyn, Lauren, Bentley and Natalie; his siblings, June Westman (Bill), Mryna Schmidt (late Earl), Carol Lines (Bob Ernest), Leonard Schmidt (Joyce) and Judy Schweitzer (Gary); and his siblings-in-law, Marg Stahlke (late Bill), Robert Elg (Marg), Verna Morris, Roy Elg, Ralph Elg (Eleanor), George Elg (Barb) and Bruce Elg (Joanne).
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 14th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Elma Logan Recreation Centre.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society or Redeemer Lutheran Church Monkton.
