She was predeceased by : her mother Marg Dowdall. She is survived by : her husband Peter; her son Nicholas; her father Ken Dowdall; and her sisters, Kathie (Warren), Debbie (Doug) and Marguerite (Paul). She is also survived by her nieces and nephews.

In Ruth's memory, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
