He was predeceased by : his wife Wilhelmina Van Lanen; his child Josie McCarvell (Bill); and his parents, Jacobus Wilhelmus and Sophia Gertruda van Lanen. He is survived by : his children, Jim Van Lanen (Bonnie), Lorie Tennant (James) and Joan-Marie Van Lanen; his grandchildren, Jennifer Medal (David), Amanda, Daniel (John), Rebecca (Nathan), Jacob (Jenna), Rachel, Johanna Van Lanen, Mark, Mary Tennant, Michael, Peter and Joshua McCarvell; his great grandchildren, Isabella, Alexandra and Cecilia Medal; and his siblings, Koosje Verdijck van Lanen, Jan van Lanen, Martien van Lanen, Koos van Lanen, Wim van Lanen, Gerardus van Lanen, Johanna Colbers van Lanen and Jo van Lanen. He is also survived by many relatives and friends.

Due to COVID-19, a private funeral service will be held on Thursday with interment in Holy Angels' Cemetery.
