He was predeceased by: his parents, Pearl Mackie and Einar Dominicus Mackie; his siblings, George and Sharon Arlt; and his brother-in-law Edward Arlt.

He is survived by: his wife Liz Mackie; his children, Carolyn (Rob Percival) and Einar (Kara Yates); his grandchildren, Katelyn (Rob Freckelton), Matthew, Ewan and Griffin; and his brother-in-law Doug Thomas (Susan). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
