Dorothy Bender Obituary

We bid farewell to Dorothy Bender (New Hamburg, Ontario), whose journey of life gracefully concluded on February 1, 2026. Dorothy touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. She was predeceased by: her husband Willis Bender; her parents, Moses Gerber and Rachel Gerber (Jantzi); her grandson Jimmy Roth; and her siblings, Alice (Clarence Leis), Marion (Irvin Schwartzentruber), Esther Gerber, Kathleen Gerber, Don (Doreen Gerber) and Morris (Joyce Gerber).

She is survived by: her children, Carol Roth (Ron) of New Hamburg, Kathy Roth (Danny) of Stratford and Bob Bender (Alan Small) of Waterloo; her grandchildren, Tammy Kaufman (Greg), Jeff Roth (Michelle), Jeremy Roth (Jill) and Brad Roth (Jenny); her great grandchildren, Kaylee (Kyle), Mackenzie (Mackenzie), Rylee (Tanner), Kyle (Morgan), Justin, Braedan, Turner, Brooklynn and Max; her great great grandchildren, Lennon Dorothy, Palmer, Payton and Callahan; her brother Wesley Gerber (Eleanor); and her siblings-in-law, Hilda Roth and Delmer Bender.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, February 3rd 2026 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home (291 Huron St, New Hamburg, ON N3A1K2). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, February 4th 2026 at the same location. A burial was held on Wednesday, February 4th 2026 at the East Zorra 19th Line Mennonite Cemetery (985992 Perth-Oxford Rd, Shakespeare, ON N0B2P0).

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Mennonite Central Committee or the Spruce Lodge Blanket Warmer Program would be appreciated by the family.
