He was predeceased by: his parents, Vernon Shantz and Helen Shantz (Hammer); his father-in-law Donald Smiley; and his sister Betty Shantz. He is survived by: his wife Cathy Shantz (Smiley); his children, Tammy Weiss (Harty), Andrew Shantz (Melissa) and Julie Williams (Matt); his brother Dan Shantz (Eleanor); his sister-in-law Debbie (Doug); and his mother-in-law Geraldine Smiley.
