Gary Irvin Stere Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Gary Irvin Stere of Newcastle, Ontario, who passed away on June 29, 2025 at the age of 80. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Gary Irvin Stere to pay them a last tribute.

He was predeceased by: his wife Jean Mabel Stere; his daughters, Sherry Ann and Angela Jeanette; his parents, Irvin and Lucinda Stere (Albrecht); his siblings, Wayne Stere, Claire, Rose Stere (White), Marjorie (Marj), Jim Kalbfleisch, Robert (Bob), Betty Stere (Schmidt) and Brenda Stere; and his brothers-in-law, Harvey Harold, Don Schmidt and Kenneth Schmidt.

He is survived by: his grandchildren, Jamie Stiles, Ryan Stiles, Chelsea Thompkins and Courtney Thompkins; his great grandchild Charlie Ann Stiles; his son-in-law Bob Stiles; and his sisters-in-law, Jeanne Stere (Habel) and Mary Ann Harold (Schmidt). He is also survived by nephews, cousins, and his rent-a-daughters, and will be fondly remembered by his large extended family and wide circle of friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 4th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and on Saturday, July 5th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 5th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Newcastle United Church (84 Mill St S, Newcastle, ON L1B1H2). A burial will be held on Saturday, July 5th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 12:45 PM at the Bowmanville Cemetery (1330 Haines St, Bowmanville, ON L0B). A reception will be held on Saturday, July 5th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Newcastle United Church (84 Mill St S, Newcastle, ON L1B1H2).
