David Kirk Stocks Obituary

On November 6, 2021, David Kirk Stocks (April 25, 1958) passed away from complications of cancer. Kirk was a charming, charismatic man with a big laugh and a bigger heart. With a home first in Toronto and then in Beaverton, Ontario, Kirk loved few things more than watching a beautiful sunset over Lake Simcoe with his dog. A voracious reader, he could usually be found down at the dock demolishing the library’s latest offerings. He loved his family and friends deeply and was always available for a phone call, no matter how much time had passed since the last one.

Kirk had a great sense of humour. He came alive when making people laugh with a joke or a too-tall tale, especially kids of family and friends. He gave the biggest bear hugs and had an extensive and ever-available vocabulary of swear words for any situation. With his colon removed at age 28, he firmly believed that farting was a privilege not to be taken for granted by those with working recta.

Kirk was a fighter, having battled cancer successfully three times before the last round. His favourite fights, though, occurred regularly over the backgammon board (Risk was banned from the house in 2008 following a catastrophic familial fallout). He lives on through dauson Taylor Stocks and is survived by nearson Vladie, his sister Shauna and brother Sandy and sister-in-law Debbie, as well as host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and beloved friends including Scott, John, and Rachel.

A wake will be held on Sunday, November 5th from 3-5pm at the North York Keg, 5015 Yonge Street, Toronto.
