He was predeceased by : his brothers, Leo and Robert; and his parents, Wilfred Phaneuf and Eva Phaneuf. He is survived by : his wife Carolyn; his children, Rachelle (Christopher Grossi) and Timothy; his grandsons, Ethan and Nolan; and his sister Nancy (late Thomas Dell).

Visitation was held on Tuesday, September 19th 2023 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Wednesday, September 20th 2023 from 9:00 AM to 9:45 AM at the Roadhouse & Rose Funeral Home (157 Main St S, Newmarket, ON L3Y3Y9). A funeral mass was held on Wednesday, September 20th 2023 at 10:00 AM at the St. John Chrysostom Catholic Church (414 Ontario St, Newmarket, ON L3Y2K4). A burial was held on Wednesday, September 20th 2023 at 11:00 AM at the St. John Cemetery (250 Old Main St, Newmarket, ON L3Y). A reception was held on Wednesday, September 20th 2023 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Roadhouse & Rose Funeral Home - Reception Room (157 Main St S, Newmarket, ON L3Y3Y9).

If desired, any memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Arthritis Society or Southlake Foundation. Donations are being accepted for: Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario - York Region North Office Arthritis Society, The Southlake Regional Health Centre Foundation.
