He was predeceased by: his children, Michele Thorsen and Brian Herman; his parents, Lewis Herman and Miriam Herman; and his siblings, Gary Herman (Ann) and Sharon Shepherd.

He is survived by: his child Lynn Henderson (Jeff); his son-in-law Kevin Thorsen; his grandchildren, Jacqueline, Jon Thorsen, Jenny Longman (John) and Katie Henderson; his brother-in-law Philip Shepherd; and his nephew Leonard Herman.
