He was predeceased by: his parents, Georges Hamel and Jacqueline Hamel of Hearst. He is survived by: his siblings, Michel, André (Joanne), Guy (Lorraine), Lillianne (Viannez), Louise and Lyne; and his daughter Sara. He is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, aunts and uncles.
