He was predeceased by: his wife Fay; and his parents, Valida Ranney and Malcolm Ranney. He is survived by: his children, Glenda Scanlan (Denis), Garth (Caron) and Gavin Ranney (Carole); his grandchildren, Matthew Scanlan (Lauren), Allyson Maker (Brad), Erin Dimmel (Josh) and Kristin Ranney; his great grandchildren, Theodore, Maxwell Scanlan, Olivia Dimmel and Logan Maker; his brother Arthur Ranney; and his sibling's children, Kathy Mendez and John Ranney.

Donations to the North Bay Regional Health Center Foundation in memory of Richard will be gratefully acknowledged by his family.
