With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Vivian Pentland (North Bay, Ontario), born in Auburn, Ontario, who passed away on January 8, 2019. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Eliza Mabel Straughan and Charles Melville Straughan; her husband Ronald Pentland; and her brothers, George Straughan and Ross Straughan.

She is survived by: her cousins, Karen Menheere, Shelley Pentland, Liz Brooks, Shawn Pentland and Tammy Brown. She is also survived by nieces, nephews.

“Hello, my condolences to your family for Vivian's loss. Vivian was my principal at E. T. Carmichael school for one year. She had quite an impact on me and I was one of the teachers that kept in touch with Vivian after her retirement. (I still remember her saying, please don't ask me if I am keeping busy in my retirement!) She honoured me by coming to my wedding and she gave a toast to the bride - me!! She sent me Christmas cards for a number of years, particularly after my husband passed away and I tried to call at least once a year to keep in touch. I am sorry to say that over the last two years, I lost touch - I moved twice and was bit overwhelmed with all of that and had an injury as well so needless to say, I didn't follow up to update her on my whereabouts. I am sure her latest Christmas card got returned and for that I am so sorry. I am hoping that if there is a memorial, I will be able to attend. Please know that she was a guiding light for me. I admired her tremendously and feel very privileged to have known her. My email is [email protected] and I now live in London, Ontario (after living in Toronto since 1989).”
