Naomi Wittlin Obituary

It is always difficult saying goodbye to someone we love and cherish. Family and friends must say goodbye to their beloved Naomi Wittlin (North York, Ontario), who passed away, on March 5, 2025. She was loved and cherished by many people including: her husband Les; her children, Kyle (Paulina Wittlin) and Taryn (Daniel Kalette); her sibling Joey Starr; and her grandchildren, Cali, Aiko and Raynbow.

A funeral service was held on Friday, March 7th 2025 at 12:00 PM. A shiva was held on Sunday, March 9th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, on Monday, March 10th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

“Part 2 She was so adept at her craft. Breaking down historical references, interpreting moods and meaning, identifying literary tools like an archeologist of language. Then there were her colourful outfits and bright lipstick, her signature blue walls and mixed and matched florals, her vibrant salads and flavourful soups, her loud laugh - everything about her seemed to be larger than life and she was infectious. I still make her maple salmon recipe at lease once every few months!”

Immediately, I recognized the impossibility of matching her standards and reputation; instead, I surrendered to just revelling in the opportunity to learn from this incredible woman. Her warm character, bright smile and pleasant demeanour will always be remembered by her coworkers and students. Naomi was like a mother figure to me and many others. Many a lunch hour was spent laughing with her and her best friend Gary Hamara and Gord as they relayed stories of past times. Naomi had a genuine heart and will be missed.
