It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Bill Sommer (Norwich, Ontario), who passed away on January 5, 2026, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his sons, Christian Sommer and William Sommer; his grandchildren, Daniel Mol, Danielle Sommer and Christina Sommer; his great grandchild Abigail Klyn; and his siblings, Ron Sommer, Hank Sommer, Anne Vrugteveen, Mary Roth, Jane Kooiman, Frank Sommer, Murray Sommer, Harry Sommer, Alie Vlastra van Loon, Mep Bogaard, Joanne Koppelaar, Cathy Laman and Rita VandenBeukel.
He is survived by: his children, Eric, Margaret Sommer (Velthove) of Buffelsfontein, Irene, John Vrugteveen of Espel, Janet, Pat Roloson of Langton, Ingrid, Arne Schaap of Brantford, Gary, Ria Sommer (Nieuwenhuis) of Bookton, Carolyn, Babette Johnstone of Brantford and Catherine Sommer of Norwich, Ontario..
Visitation was held on Monday, January 12th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Tuesday, January 13th 2026 from 10:30 AM to 10:50 AM. A funeral service was held on Tuesday, January 13th 2026 at 11:00 AM at 685 Main St S, Burgessville, ON N0J1C0. A burial was held on Tuesday, January 13th 2026 at 12:30 PM at the Bookton Cemetery (2-100 Brookton Ln, La Salette, ON N0E1H0).
