He was predeceased by: his parents, Janez Ferko and Regina Ferko. He is survived by: his wife Aloizia; his sons, Dario (Barbara) and John (Daina); his brother Vlado; his grandchildren, Emily (Dan), Madelaine (Kris), Olivia, Jessica, John Jr. and Jordan (Grace); and his great grandchild Henry.
