Gerrit Jan Buitenhuis Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Gerrit Jan Buitenhuis of Oakville, Ontario, who passed away on November 21, 2025, at the age of 68, leaving to mourn family and friends. He is survived by: his sister Gerdy (Henk); his siblings-in-law, Karen and Mark; and his sibling's children, Bernold, Martijn (Hedwig), Leslie (Neil), Mara, Jennifer (Cam), Kayla (Carter) and Ben. He is also survived by his 10 great-nieces and great-nephews.
Visitation was held on Saturday, November 29th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the South Frontenac Museum (5595 Rd. 38, Harrowsmith, ON K0H1W0). A celebration of life was held on Sunday, December 7th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Enoch Turner School (106 Trinity St, Toronto, ON M5A1L3). Many will remember his Farmer Gerrit on-line video series about raising chickens that delighted his followers during the pandemic.
