It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Gerrit Jan Buitenhuis of Oakville, Ontario, who passed away on November 21, 2025, at the age of 68, leaving to mourn family and friends. He is survived by: his sister Gerdy (Henk); his siblings-in-law, Karen and Mark; and his nieces and nephews, Bernold, Martijn (Hedwig), Leslie (Neil), Mara, Jennifer (Cam), Kayla (Carter) and Ben. He is also survived by his 10 great-nieces and great-nephews.
Many will remember his Farmer Gerrit on-line video series about raising chickens that delighted his followers during the pandemic.
