He is survived by: his wife Patti; his sister Linda (Miles); his siblings-in-law, Jim (Sherry), Debbie (Jim) and Bev (Rob); his mother-in-law Jean Shipley; his sibling's children, Emma (Brandon), Christopher (Brittney), Adele, Jackson and Pam (Andy); his great-nieces and great-nephews, Ellie, Evan, Simon, Luke and Nate; and his godchildren, Stephanie and Shaeleigh.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honour John are welcome to make donations to a charity of their choice, or to one of the following: Parkinson's Canada Canadian Cancer Society.
